Flora

Flora is a community-engaged, open-work project that invites anyone to contribute photographs of the natural world, and invites performers to bring those photographs to life through music and movement.

Community members are invited to submit photos featuring any type of flora: trees, plants, flowers, and more. Contributors are credited for their photos and may name them if they'd like.

​

Lauren is in the process of composing a growing collection of open-work scores, for any instrumentation, specific instrumentation, voice, and movement, that performers can pair with any submitted photo to assemble their own personalized version of the piece. The result is a project built for creativity and performer voice, with endless possibilities for collaboration and a meaningful way to explore the connections between people, art, and the natural world.

Flora is designed to be accessible to performers of all levels, abilities, and backgrounds.

Contribute a photo!
Photos should feature flora as the most prominent subject. The surrounding environment, including built or man-made elements, is welcome as part of the frame. Photos should not include people, though insects and other animals may appear as long as they aren't the central focus.
